Sacred defence, a great asset - Ahmadinejad

Tehran, Sept 26 - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sunday stressed the importance of preserving the current culture of sacred defense, saying this will be the strongest cultural and spiritual asset of the country in its bid to greatness.

The president's remarks were heard at a farewell ceremony for outgoing first vice-president, Mohammad-Reza Aref, and introducing the new First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi.

He said the successful resolution of the nation's problems and obstacles would depend on the perpetuation and strengthening of the culture of sacred defense.

The president further expressed hope the revolutionary spirit and love for sacred defense and similar values of the present generation would be handed down to future generations as the distinguishing legacy and great spiritual and cultural heritage of the Iranian nation.

He said he was confident solutions to the ongoing problems of society would be found through the proven application of experience, achievement and values.
